Fairies

I love the whole fairy thing! I am not an addict to the whole fairy story with fairy doors and little shoes and all that.. But vintage fairy images I adore! I am dreaming and painting fairies right now! Always inspired by Cicely Mary Barker, an illustrator and seamstress in 1920s. You'd know her fairies.

Cicely Mary Barker painted flower fairies... She apparentlly used children she knew as models and matched their character to those she saw in individual flowers. She also made the costumes herself and each child would stand holding the appropriate flower as she painted. Wow! Love that Cicely.

Anyhow thought I'd share!

Holiday 2012

We had a fun day today in the CP studio! We set up a beautiful set as you see here and shot our Christmas catalog shot. Just a sweet little release for the Holiday release... we are sure you are gonna love it. And don't forget to order Dept 56 coordinating ornaments... yes, the Polar Bear, Reindeer, Mr and Mrs Penguin are all available as 3-d ornaments! Will share photos of those soon!

Inspiration: 1700s French

I am painting and inspired by all things 1700s. Not so much Marie Antoinette et cetera, but the opulence of the textiles, embroidery, wardrobes and furnishings... We shall see how this may turn out in my own hand... I am bouncing around a name, BERGAMOT.
